I Transferred my Yat to Another Wallet and Now It's Disappeared from my Dashboard!
If you minted your Yats and then moved them from your original MetaMask wallet to a different one (either with MetaMask or a third party one, whether out of preference or a desire for security), then you may have found that your Yats have disappeared out of your Yat dashboard.
The way that our system is set up is that once a Yat is minted and goes onto the Ethereum blockchain, the presence of the Yat within your MetaMask wallet is how we keep track of it within your Dashboard.
If it gets moved out of that particular wallet, it's an indication that the Yat has been sold or transferred to another party and thus doesn't belong in THAT PARTICULAR Yat Dashboard anymore, and so is therefore removed.
We are working on some tools to refine all of this, however for now it is how things work.
You have a few of choices to make at this juncture! If you would like access to your Yats in order to have their functionality returned to them in their Dashboards, options 1 and 2 are of particular importance:
- You can transfer your Yat back into your MetaMask wallet. Ideally the system will see the Yat and it will appear in your Dashboard, but it might require a syncing action, which involves minting an additional Yat. We have a help article with more details right here.
- You can transfer your Yat back into your MetaMask wallet and if the system doesn't pick it up automatically, you can wait for a short while. We are working on a tool which does the syncing for you (without the minting of the extra Yat). I don't have an ETA on that tool, but it's a priority, so it should be soon.
- You can keep the Yat in a 3rd party wallet. It is still a Yat and can be traded or sold at any time. It's functionality as an identity can be restored at any time using the means which I mentioned above, and we hope to be able to support additional wallets soon, though I don't have an ETA for that either.
